Reasons Hydrogen Is Not The Fuel Of The Future In its natural state it is a colorless odorless gas. It must be compressed and refrigerated to -400 F to remain in a liquid state. It freezes body parts if it comes in contact with living tissue. It burns with INVISIBLE flame. It is explosive under compression. It is explosive in free stable air. It is hypergolic (spontaneous combustion on contact) with liquid oxygen. Fuel cells made to use it are explosive. (Apollo 13) It is dangerous to dispense without operational and safety training. It requires the creation of a new distribution system. Does this sound like something you want in your garage? Now consider the fact that Detroit wants to put this in vehicles that sometimes collide with each other at high speed. Great idea!
